What can a tiny seed teach us about the world?
During National Science Week, students will become young biologists as they explore the science of living things through hands-on investigations, experiments and STEM challenges. This exciting whole-school event will focus on seeds, plants, growth and the natural world, helping students discover how living things survive, adapt and thrive.
Students will investigate what plants need to grow, compare different growing conditions, observe changes over time and record their findings like real scientists. Through interactive activities, they will explore topics such as germination, life cycles, biodiversity, ecosystems and the important role plants play in supporting life on Earth. Students will ask questions, make predictions, collect data and use scientific thinking to solve problems and explain their discoveries.
Learning will extend beyond the classroom through creative investigations and collaborative projects that encourage curiosity and a deeper understanding of biological science. The week will culminate in a Community Science Fair where students will proudly share their experiments, observations and growing projects with families and community members.
To continue the learning journey at home, every student will receive a take-home "Seed of Science" kit.
